Nuts and screws

Bolt sets, nuts, and screw kits for assembling and maintaining technical diving BCD hardware — primarily for attaching D-rings, weight pockets, and tank adapters to backplates. These are the fasteners that hold BP/W system components together, and having the correct bolt geometry is required before installation — thread pitch, head profile (flat or round), and shank length must match the existing holes in the backplate and the component being attached.

Bolt Set Selection

BC bolts are supplied as male/female sets — the M-dimension is the bolt length in mm and the F-dimension is the nut or female receiver depth. Head profiles are either flat head flat (sits flush or countersunk) or round head hex (dome head with hex socket drive). Flat head flat bolts are standard for backplate D-ring attachment where the bolt head must sit below the surface to prevent webbing abrasion. Round head hex bolts are used where a flush countersink is not machined into the component and the dome head sits proud of the surface. Key sets in this range: BC bolts (M10+F10) flat head flat chrome 11253 (240364) and BC bolts (M11+F10) flat head flat (240363) for standard D-ring and plate attachment in typical backplate hole configurations; BC bolts (M8+F10) round head hex (240360) for components using dome-head fasteners; BC bolts (M9+F10) round head flat (240362), BC bolts (M15+F5) (240358), BC bolts (M20+F5) (240359), and BC bolts (M16+F12) (240361) for specific plate and accessory configurations requiring different shank lengths. The Nuts for twin tanks (240355) are the manifold bolt nuts used in doubles assembly. Screw set for tank adapter imp (240353) and Screw set for tank adapter M8 (240354) are complete fastener sets for single tank adapter attachment — imperial and metric thread variants for different backplate hole specifications.

What to Look For

  • Measure before ordering — the M-dimension (bolt length) must match the combined thickness of the backplate and the component being attached. Too short and the nut will not fully engage; too long and the bolt protrudes beyond the nut and creates a snagging point on harness webbing.
  • Thread specification — the tank adapter screw sets come in imperial and M8 metric. Verify which thread your backplate uses before ordering. Mixing thread standards causes cross-threading and stripped holes.
  • Chrome vs. stainless — chrome-plated bolts (11253 suffix) require fresh water rinsing and periodic inspection for plating damage. Bare stainless is self-protecting but check for galvanic corrosion if the bolt is in contact with dissimilar metals (aluminium backplate with stainless bolt).
